Europlaz, a specialist medical device manufacturer, based in Southminster is bucking the trend of British manufacturing and taking on new staff to keep up with demand.
2010 has seen Europlaz win a number of new contracts from blue chip companies in the UK and USA to manufacture some highly technical, innovative medical products. As a result the company is increasing its investment and development. Spending over a quarter of a million £ expanding cleanroom facilities and the same again on new machinery.
In a time of unemployment, lack of university places and near recession, Europlaz hopes this is a welcome boost for the local economy.
Steve Sansom, Technical Director said ‘Based in Essex for forty years Europlaz is seeing an upturn in business that can directly help boost the local economy. We expect to soon expand into running a night shift and we are certainly looking for new staff for both day and night work.’
The first of the new jobs to be advertised include an Injection Mould Setter and a Quality Engineer. Around ten more vacancies at all levels will be announced in the run up to Christmas. Europlaz are also in the early stages of creating apprenticeships in machine setting, machine maintenance, quality control and 3D CAD design.
