Arup Associates is a multi-disciplinary design practice, which integrates architecture, engineering, cost consultancy and product design within one design studio. Every project expresses the multi-disciplinary philosophy that is at the heart of the Practice. As part of Arup, we are the creative force behind many of the world’s most innovative and sustainable designs and our work touches on many aspects of modern life. Our aim is technologically advanced design that is appropriate, economic, and sensitive to environmental and human needs. We create buildings and places that benefit those who use them and that demonstrate responsibility to others who are affected by their presence. Our work is both national and international and is commissioned by clients in the public and private sectors. We undertake projects at all scales, from urban master planning to the development of products and components. Every project is an individual response to the opportunities presented by the client, the brief and the site. At Arup Associates design disciplines interact to ensure a broad exploration of solutions. Ideas are evolved and creativity is transferred. We seek an integrated response to the increasingly complex challenges presented by the built environment. Our purpose is to improve the human condition and give value to those who commission us. Our method is the discovery of new techniques and the exploration of alternative approaches. Challenges normally related to one discipline have often been met by innovative approaches in others.
