Manx Gas Ltd

Manx Gas is a multi-faceted gas utility company, working exclusively for the Isle of Man and making gas available Island-wide. It operates a one-stop ‘shop’ for all gas needs, from supplying and maintaining the gas, through to planning and installations, servicing support, plus the sale of new appliances. A round-the-clock safety and emergency service is provided. Gases of widely differing constituents for many purposes are designed, manufactured, supplied and supported. These gases are used for domestic and commercial heating and cooking, leisure, and to serve the needs of industry, farming and the health services. Recently, Autogas was introduced, running motor vehicles at substantially less than the cost of petrol or diesel. Agencies cover oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, food preservation materials and balloon gas. Manx Gas directly employs around 100 people in the Isle of Man. It provides regular work for well over 100 CORGI-registered gas installers. About 200 local companies supply goods and services to Manx Gas. Sixteen shops in the Island sell approved gas appliances, there are 34 agents for cylinder gas and Manx Gas has its own showroom in Douglas. The company operates a fleet of support vehicles, from bulk gas containers to cylinder delivery wagons, mains layers and customer service vans. It maintains more than 250 miles of underground pipelines. The latest investment – around £10 million – is directed at converting Douglas, Onchan, Union Mills and Glen Vine to Natural Gas.
