Here at South West Water (part of the Pennon Group Plc), it is our responsibility to maintain and improve the region's environment and bathing waters, while making sure that all our customers have reliable round the clock access to high quality drinking water and waste water facilities. When South West Water was privatised in 1989, we inherited a water system suffering from a century of neglect. Since that time, our 1,300+ employees have worked tirelessly to bring the region's drinking water, beaches and sewerage systems in line with stringent UK and European Union standards. Due to this extensive programme of environmental improvement, the west country now attracts over eight million holiday makers every year who come to the area to enjoy some of the finest bathing waters in Europe, picturesque scenery and rivers and wildlife of stunning quality. South West Water believes that by investing in the future of the west country, we are not only improving the quality of life for today's residents and visitors but are also taking responsibility for future generations.
