Southwark Council

To deliver the best services to our residents, we need the best people working for us. You might be a local resident looking for work in your community, a local government professional seeking to advance your career with a leading London Borough - or you might be somebody who's never thought of local government before. Whatever your background, we want you to consider us. You can be assured that your application will be considered on its merits and nothing else. South of the river Thames, Southwark stretches from the riverside to Dulwich. It captures a number of well-known areas including the Elephant & Castle, Bermondsey, Peckham, Camberwell, and Dulwich Village. Described as London's most historic borough, it is in fact full of contrasts. From Southwark cathedral to modern office developments and projects such as the planned London Bridge Tower. It is home to many top companies and tourist attractions, most recently the Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge. Southwark has excellent transport links with the rest of London and the UK. The Borough is served by three London underground lines (Bakerloo, Northern & Jubilee), mainline railway stations, including Waterloo with its international rail terminal & London Bridge. It has an extensive bus network & easy access to major roads. We have a population of over 250,000, and are the largest landlord in London & the sixth in the country. 63 Councillors lead Southwark, which is organised into 7 multi-service departments. The Council increasingly works in partnership with other public sector organisations and the private sector. We are committed to excellence and aim to provide services effectively and efficiently to the local community and visitors to the Borough.
