Since Joseph Stannah first opened the doors for business in London back in 1867 Stannah has remained a British, family-owned business. Nearly 150 years later, our business is managed by Patrick and Jon Stannah, Joseph’s great, great grandchildren.
In the 1860s the business designed and manufactured hoists and cranes, introducing passenger lifts around the turn of the century. Then in 1975, we began to apply our engineering expertise to the design, manufacture and installation of stairlifts.
In 2011 we produced our 500,000th stairlift which was commemorated with a visit from HRH The Prince of Wales – a very proud day for all of us at Stannah.
Today, Stannah Stairlifts is part of the Stannah Group. This also includes, Stannah Lifts Limited, Stannah Microlifts Limited and Stannah Lift Services Limited.
The year 2015 brings more exciting milestones now that we’ve manufactured over 600,000 stairlifts and exported to over 46 countries worldwide but our biggest celebration this year will be that we find ourselves in our 40th year of manufacturing stairlifts.
