With a budget of around £14 billion, and over 17,000 people working for us, Defence Equipment and Support is one of the most exciting areas of the Ministry of Defence. Our people play a vital role in ensuring the nation is well protected, by ensuring our defence assets – submarines, weapons, satellites vehicles and much more – are well equipped for the challenges they face.
You’ll manage a large portfolio of systems engineering tasks, and oversee the implementation of new systems engineering approaches and education programmes. Along with senior military personnel, you’ll set the direction for equipment programmes, and oversee the work of junior and senior systems engineers. And with colleagues across the MOD, other government departments and other governments, you’ll be part of a crucial chain of communication, to develop common programmes of work.
You’ll be an experienced Chartered Engineer, or able to achieve this level within twelve months. As well as this, you’ll have a successful history of leading engineering teams, delivering high quality systems engineering products and mentoring other staff.
We believe strongly in working collaboratively, and you’ll need to be a role model for this. With experience in achieving commercial outcomes, your knowledge of the field will give you excellent insight into how we can best deliver our services.
As well as a competitive salary, we offer relocation packages of up to £8,000 for those who meet policy criteria. Our culture is open, supportive and flexible, and you’ll be in the perfect environment to develop and grow professionally.
