Senior Civil Engineer & Infrastructure Design Engineer
Location: York, Manchester, Birmingham
Our client is a multi-disciplinary design and engineering business comprising professional engineers, architects, surveyors and project delivery specialists across a number of market sectors including rail, industrial, energy and off-site solutions.
They are now looking to recruit senior and civil design professionals across the York, Birmingham and Manchester areas.
The Infrastructure team works with Network Rail, contractors and train operating companies to develop, design and construct a wide range of projects from minor track renewals to £500-£900 million projects such as the redevelopment of Kings Cross and Reading Stations.
As Senior Civil Engineer, your main responsibilities will include leading and directing teams of civil engineers, graduates and technicians involved in producing Civil engineering designs and studies for railway infrastructure projects on behalf of clients.
Within the Infrastructure design role, you will act as designer on a variety of rail and infrastructure design projects. You will act as lead engineer on projects as directed, to ensure they are to the required quality, to programme and within agreed fees. This will include outlining and checking detailed design of large multi-disciplinary projects.
The ideal candidates will be educated to degree level in civil engineering, with a 2:2 or above (or equivalent), and ideally be a member of (or working towards becoming) an Incorporated / Chartered Engineer. Good knowledge and experience of civil engineering design and detailing is essential, as is detailed knowledge of civil design and construction principles and standards.
You will need excellent commercial awareness, including programming, delivery to budgets and timescales, and the importance of contracts in project delivery. Good working knowledge of Network Rail procedures and standards is necessary, coupled with a solid understanding of safety standards and CDM requirements.
