Further information

Working in a stimulating environment at the cutting edge of technology, we currently have opportunities for talented Design Engineers to join Rolls-Royce Supply Chain Engineering in Derby or Bristol. Rolls-Royce Supply Chain Engineering is responsible for the design of the components in the Aerospace Sector of Rolls-Royce. The quality and excellence of these designs underpin the world class performance and reliability of our gas turbine products.

Supporting future strategy development and continuous improvement initiatives, your role may extend across new product development or be related to resolution of issues with existing engines in service. You will be a core member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) and be responsible for integrating the inputs of a number of specialists (such as Stress, Aero, Thermals, Fluid Systems etc.) in order to produce the optimum design solution which best meets a range of (often conflicting) customer requirements, typically focusing on areas such as cost, reliability, integrity, performance, weight and timescales. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, you will ensure we select the best manufacturing method, design and define the component that can be made with the proven process capability and support the creation of the production capability.

Qualifications and experience

* You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline and have previous mechanical design experience, ideally within the Aerospace industry, including problem solving, working with manufacturing and producing associated documentation.
* You will be a chartered engineer, or working towards chartership with the engineering council.
* You will be proficient in the use of MS Office applications and have practical and demonstrable knowledge of the creation of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, preferably using Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter, though other experience will be considered. In addition you should be able to show a willingness to learn new skills and undertake training to support Aerospace standards of safety and innovation.

Knowledge of the following is desirable, but not essential:

* Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
* Basic understanding of manufacturing techniques and stress analysis.
* Project and Risk management.
