Environmental Project Engineer - Stevenage

Environmental Engineers within the Environmental Engineering and Facilities (EE&F) function hold integral roles within all Land, Sea and Air based Weapons System projects providing a key technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle from concept definition, through design aid and qualification and into in-service support. Their expertise covers the areas of requirements specification and management, data analysis, simulation and modelling and test in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock), and structural mechanical and fatigue testing.

EE&F has a wide range of unique test facilities, capabilities and skills to support product development and formal qualification and are involved in the development of advanced simulation and test techniques for complex weapon systems to meet demanding customer needs and constantly develop new test technologies aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our products.

EE&F are responsible for providing a consistent and technically excellent approach to programmes definition to demonstrate product safety, survival, operation and reliability against a full range of service environments. These activities provide a consistent engineering approach to all the stages of product development from concept to in service support.

Opportunities exist for:

Environmental Engineers covering the following typical responsibilities:

*Developing the Environmental Requirement Specification by examining information from Customer Requirements and analysis of trial data.
*Providing technical guidance to design authorities with respect to appropriate technologies and principles to survive the environment, including input into concept studies, research and development projects and work closely with certification and design verification authorities to provide a consistent approach to system validation.
*Development of trials plans and schedules based on interpretation of the requirements and the technologies and functions of product against the full range of environments, including the selection of test facilities, specification of the required instrumentation.

Candidate Experience:

*Ideally degree qualified or equivalent
*Working experience of Environmental Engineering and simulation tools, ideally within the Defence Sector
*Good verbal and written communication abilities
*Proven analytical and problem solving skills
*Effective at working in teams with strong interpersonal skills
*Strong ability to push through the correct technical solution
*Relevant experience of Environmental defence standards
*Knowledge of advanced techniques such as Fatigue Damage Spectrum (FDS) and Maximum Response Spectrum (MRS) analysis to assist in synthesising the real or induced environments would be beneficial
