Honda’s Head Line Machining section mills, drills, taps, line bores and assembles die cast heads ready for assembly in the Engine Assembly area. In this quality critical environment, delivery is very important. Providing Engineering Support, you’ll help manufacture cylinder heads, from ensuring quality components, cost control on certain budgets, delivery uptime and management support for parts on the machining area. Main areas of the job include:
• Providing technical support to production management
• Analysing Quality data using various quality analytical tools and adjusted machine tools from the data
• Monitoring and measuring process cycle time and tact time, adjusting machine tool and tooling to optimise uptime
• Planning and organising weekend and shutdown work
• Liaising with interdepartmental colleagues to synergise operations
• Supporting new project installation and major improvements
You’ll be qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in engineering, and have manufacturing/process environment experience that includes basic knowledge of adjusting machine tools, machining cutting tool applications and their capabilities. You’ll also have:
• Experience gained in an automotive/aerospace machining environment
• Aluminium machining experience
• Working knowledge of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines
• CNC programming capability from 2D drawings
• Hands on experience of shop floor-based Quality tools to summarise data and make reports and presentations
• knowledge of Microsoft applications
• Fault tree analysis and FMEA
