CONTROL AND SIGNALLING SYSTEMS - TRANSPORTATION
We are now seeking a Senior Engineer to join this leading provider of Control Systems, on-board and wayside signalling systems and communications solutions for global freight rail and transit industries.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that the engineering design requirements and project deliverables are met. This will involve working with the engineering team to interface with NPI, supply chain, construction, testing and commissioning and management of the change control process. You will support the Project Manager in hazard identification and management, checking designs, work package plans and task briefs. You will be responsible for specified engineering tasks as directed by the Senior Project Engineer which may include but not limited to, the definition of requirements, creation of Bills of Materials, design documentation, acceptance criteria and application guides. You will also undertake the preparation of project technical specifications. In addition, you will assist in the preparation of work packages and tasks for execution by in-house and external resources; supporting the project to identify and mitigate project risks.
Furthermore, you will undertake design and checking duties of system hardware and data, also ensuring that all designs and work packages are submitted to the customer with the necessary documentation in compliance with contractual and statutory obligations. You will also provide support to the Senior Project Engineer, Project Planner and Commercial function as required relating to technical matters. You will attend customer meetings and deputise for the Senior Project Engineer as required. You will be expected to maintain up to date knowledge of signalling principles, practices and standards and to actively seek to improve processes in order to maximize Project margins. You will support the Senior Project Engineer with periodic design reviews as well as coach and mentor other signalling and systems engineers.
The successful applicant should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have a detailed knowledge of Railway Signalling systems and control systems. You should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Microstation CAD. You will also be conversant with planning and aware of financial management. In addition you should be capable of being appropriately licensed to IRSE standards and requirements. You should have a strong technical aptitude including applicable engineering tools and systems.
