The role
As a Certification Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the development within cost, schedule and quality targets, of all the ship's Certification artefacts, whilst working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain and Project Management to ensure that the Systems and Ship meet their certification requirements and related deliverables.

Day to day, you'll be delivering the Certification Management Plan arrangements and developing and maintaining the plan as required and liaising closely with Supply Chain, Engineering and Commissioning delivery teams to ensure provision of all certification data.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Collating and managing delivery of all certification data to the customer.
  • Manage progress for delivering ship certification by understanding and communicating progress through routine briefing, assessing the implication of risks, issues and opportunities. Facilitating the Certification Steering Group; presenting Certification Management information, progress against plan, reviewing outcomes, issues, risks and opportunities. Creating and maintaining certification KPIs.
  • Ensure Lloyds Register involvement and progress towards ship certification.
  • Liaising with Technical Subject Matter Experts concerning Certification requirements.
  • Ensuring productive resolution between the Customer, Lloyds Register, Babcock and suppliers as required.

This role is full time 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday. The role is adaptable and can be based at Rosyth or Bristol.

Essential experience of the Certification Lead:

  • Experience with certification of air, land, or sea systems and platforms.
  • Experience developing effective partnerships with key stakeholders, with an ability to influence and challenge when required.
  • Understanding of data maturity and information relationships and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
  • Strong communication skills and confident in relaying complex technical information to others.

Qualifications for the Certification Lead:

  • Degree level qualification in STEM subject (Science/Technology/Engineering/Maths) or equivalent industry / armed forces experience
  • Chartered Professional or in process of applying would be desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
