The role
As a Facility Support Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be delivering enablement activities to ensure the delivery of Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) operations in support of radioactive waste collection, characterisation, processing, and consignment off site.

Day to day, you'll ensure RWM operations and waste disposal activities are fully enabled through planning, preparation, management, monitoring, and progress reporting.

This is to ensure that the planned activities authorised by the RWM can be fully implemented and completed within set deadlines in accordance with company values and behaviours.

  • To ensure that all spares and equipment required for the safe operation of the RWM facility
  • To support the operations team with the delivery of project tasks, working closely with stakeholders, obtaining waste metrics and completion of project delivery documents
  • To support ongoing operations, waste activities and support with the mustering of equipment and waste items
  • Sustain health, safety, security, environment and quality within operational waste activities
  • To provide metrics of waste across site and to manage SharePoint pages.

This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Facility Support Engineer:

  • Understand and interpret a variety of technical documents and drawings
  • Understanding of and experience working in a regulated environment (nuclear industry experience preferrable).
  • Appreciation, understanding and experience working in industrial areas and the associated hazards.
  • SharePoint and Microsoft Word experience
  • Technical operations relating to nuclear and radiological activities
  • Maintenance of facilities and equipment to support industrial activities both nuclear and non-nuclear

Qualifications for the Facility Support Engineer:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
