The role
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll provide provision of professional Health and Safety Management support at HMNB Clyde and its associated supply chain, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, guidance and Clyde / Babcock Business Plan objectives and continuous Health and Safety Improvement.

Day to day, you'll:
* Assist the Health and Safety Assurance Manager and Senior Health and Safety Practitioners in maximising the utilisation of all the section's resource
* Maintain and continually develop the HMNB Clyde Health and Safety Management System
* Implementation of the Company Safety policies in the health and safety area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices
* Undertake workplace inspections to; identify hazards, determine ways of reducing risks, ensure adherence to risk assessment and best practice
* Provision of a professional health & safety service and to provide competent professional health and safety advice
* Represent department as required at committees / meetings providing relevant input and maximising shared learning opportunities

This role is a full time and permanent position consisting of a 37-hour working week. The role is split between hybrid, working from home 2-3 days a week and you must be willing to travel into our Clyde site 2-3 days a week also.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.

Experience of the Health and Safety Advisor:
* Understanding of statutory/regulatory/standards compliance (Legal Awareness)
* Ability to be analytic and solve problems
* Ability to give presentations and coach employees
* Able to author and communicate in reports
* Can organise and priorities their own workload
* Knowledge of ISO 45001 (Training can be given)


Qualifications for the Health and Safety Advisor:
* NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (Mandatory)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
