The role
As a Project Lead Mission System Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The role is within our complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process.

Day to day, you'll be required to lead the physical integration of a Mission System (Communications, Navigation, Command and Control and Sensors / Effectors) into the platform or concept on behalf of the Platform Design Authority. Typically, this will include:

  • Leadership of a project Mission Systems Engineering team which may also include Weapons Ordnance Munitions & Explosives (WOME) engineers.
  • Act as a Technical Authority in the Mission Systems space and act as a primary liaison with Mission Systems suppliers (which may include the customer).
  • Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, The role is adaptable and can be based at any UK Babcock Hub which includes various sites, including but not limited to Bristol, Devonport, Rosyth, Leicester and Warrington with hybrid working from home arrangements available.

Essential experience of the Project Lead Mission Systems Engineer:

  • Deep knowledge across the Mission System (Communications, Navigation, Command and Control and Sensors / Effectors) ship integration space.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of mission systems physical integration solutions on marine platforms
  • An ability to work within a multi-discipline.
  • Excellent team good written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications for the Project Lead Mission Systems Engineer:

  • Ideally degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered.
  • Ideally hold Chartered Status but not essential

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
