Job title: Senior Marine Systems Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Salary: Up to £46,000 depending on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Working on the largest warship ever in service with the RN, and the Nation's flagship, this will be a challenging and rewarding career with lot of potential for development and progression
  • Providing subject matter expertise and technical leadership within the areas of Marine Engineering Systems, and support to mission systems and aviation systems
  • Contributing to the leadership and management of efficient implementation of in-service design change, update, and upgrade activities
  • Reviewing and demonstrating that design intent has been achieved, and ensuring that design change is holistically integrated
  • Providing leadership in determining product safety and environmental effect in the marine environment, and ensuring the integrity of the QEC Safety Case
  • You will also be exposed to various opportunities to gain experience in working across different platforms and roles elsewhere in the wider warship support function

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical / Marine Engineering and member of a relevant professional body working towards Chartered Engineer status, OR proven experience in the discipline
  • Knowledge of marine auxiliary and platform systems
  • Please be aware that many roles working for BAE Systems will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. You will be required to achieve full SC clearance

Desirable:

  • Royal Navy Marine Engineer, maritime engineering background, or time served engineer from industry looking for next step up
  • Understanding of Design Change integration
  • An understanding and experience of the defence maritime industry, especially the MoD Maritime structure and departments

The QEC WTA Marine Systems Engineering team:

This team provides constant engineering support to the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers for all aspects of the waterfront support provided by the Class Management Team, including maintenance & upkeep, as well as the introduction of new capability. This team has a strong track record of professional development with support in achieving CEng accreditation.
