The role
As a Technical Solutions Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll lead the programme to develop the technical requirements and complete the detailed design of the operating model, working closely with MOD, Babcock and specialist third party Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across Bristol, Clyde and Plymouth.

This role will help shape the future of the UK's submarine support solution, which will be reflected in the contractual, organisational and behavioural arrangements.

Day to day, you'll Work with the Submarine Availability Partnership (SMAP) and Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) requirements lead to develop and manage the requirements development workstream, coordinating Babcock SME input.

  • Work with the SMAP/LTPA operating model team to develop and manage the detailed design activities of the operating model, coordinating Babcock SME input
  • Work with the Babcock bid team to develop and manage the value propositions and technical input into Babcock's LTPA bid response, ensuring that it satisfies the defined requirement set and aligns with the collaborative operating model
  • Work with the SMAP/LTPA Portfolio Management Office to report progress, opportunities, and risks against the above
  • Work with other SMAP/LTPA functions (e.g. commercial, culture) to ensure that the overall solution is integrated and coherent

This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Babcock Technology Centre with hybrid working from home arrangements.
There is a requirement to travel to Clyde and Plymouth as part of the role.

Essential experience of the Technical Solutions Lead:

  • You will be experienced in various aspects of supporting UK submarines in-service,
  • You will be experienced in the development of requirements management and solution design,
  • The role involves working in close collaboration with senior stakeholders both internally and externally, so excellent communication skills are a must with the ability to work at all levels of the business,
  • Ability to pull together complex information and present it in a coherent manner and at the appropriate level for the audience. Refining and summarising information for senior management. Good presentation skills, ability to influence and articulate arguments.
  • Ability to work well with small teams as well as a wider groups of stakeholders. Fostering teamwork and collaboration
