New ideas are the lifeblood of Dyson. We started with vacuum cleaners, but we also develop hand dryers, fans and motors – all of which solve a problem long-forgotten (or long-ignored) by other manufacturers. But this is only the start.
Every year, we invest half our profits back into harnessing them at our research and development laboratory in Wiltshire. A third of the people at Dyson are engineers or scientists, who think, test, break and question. They’re a varied bunch, too. Many are design engineers developing new ideas and technology. Then there are specialists who test and improve different aspects of each machine, from the way they sound to what they pick up. Some will have years of experience. Others are fresh out of universities.
At Dyson, we’re frustrated with everyday objects that fail. We need engineers with serious technical credibility to make them work better. The problems you’ll face will be diverse– all of which will require deep scientific and engineering knowledge and the ability to exploit fundamental engineering principles. Working with hundreds of other experts in their field, using cutting edge resources in our UK RDD centre, you’ll be creating and shaping the next generation of Dyson technology. You’ll own a problem from day one and see your inventive solution through to the end.
How far you go at Dyson is up to you. You'll get all the support and mentoring you need to succeed. The path of progression here is pretty linear – exceptional people do well and move on up. But we're not blinkered. If you want to get involved somewhere else (a new team or country), there are opportunities.
