Until May of this year, Smiths Aerospace was part of Smiths Group. Having been acquired by GE Aviation to aid GE’s growth "beyond the engine" they are now known as the Systems division of GE Aviation. GE sees excellent opportunities to build on the existing successful business and order book to grow the Systems division strongly. Obviously, this will require the recruitment of a great number of engineers from numerous disciplines, whose career development opportunities look set to be second to none. Another important factor that should attract engineers to the company is the variety of projects available, and the chance to work on leading edge technologies, as well as varied platforms. At present, GE Aviation is working on designing and producing a variety of electronic, electrical and mechanical systems for many major projects including the Boeing Dreamliner, Airbus A380 and Joint Strike Fighter.
