My client who is a leading engineering consultancy working on a number of major railway design programmes is currently looking for a Planning Manager to develop and head up the company’s planning function across the UK.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of work experience in a Project Planning and Controls discipline, with at least part of this experience gained within the railway industry. You will have also previously mentored and been responsible for managing other Planners.  

You will be responsible for managing the planning function which consists of 10-12 Planners across the UK business group, reporting directly in to Director level. It is therefore desirable that you will have managed teams of at least 4-5 Planners or Project Controllers to be considered.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Project Planning and Controls
  • Highly capable with Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management and Critical Path Analysis
  • Engineering background (railway, civil or mechanical)
  • Experience from working within a design consultancy environment
  • Experience from managing teams of 5+ Planners
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Drive to succeed and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Professional Membership would be highly desirable eg. APM, CMI, CMI, IET, IMechE etc.
