Background Information

* Part of the team responsible for delivering Planned Maintenance programme of works (carriageway resurfacing, drainage, footway and haunching schemes)
* Annual budget of £22m, approx 200 schemes per year
* Individual schemes typically range from £5k to £500k in value, with a handful of schemes up to £1m in value
* May involve night time working.
* Occasional weekend working available


* Liaise with Highway Engineer and Contractors accordingly
* Attend meetings as required


* Attend pre-start meetings with Engineers and Contractors
* Required to deal with numerous sites at various locations at the same time.
* Ensure traffic management installed correctly
* Fill out daily diary sheets recording site information, such as plant used, operatives on site and work carried out.
* Record details of stoppages, breakdowns and delays
* Oversee works, ensuring work is undertaken in accordance with design
* Agree variations with Contractor and after discussing with designer, issue Confirmation of Verbal Instructions (CVI’s)
* Raise any problems with Contractor’s Supervisor, record in writing/photograph
* Liaise with members of the public and local businesses to resolve issues and complaints
* Liaise with highways laboratory (when required)
* Undertake and agree joint measure with Contractor

Ideally looking for:-

* Clerk of Works with experience of working on drainage, footway and carriageway structural repair sites.
* Must have experience in health and safety and traffic management issues associated with drainage and footway sites
* Be aware of duties under CDM 2015 Regulations
* Must hold full driving licence, a marked vehicle will be provided for site visits during working hours. All vehicles are tracked for individuals own safety.
