JOB PURPOSE

The Commercial Manager is responsible for ensuring that the correct commercial relationship is in place between MUJV, ADSL, ADS and the Authority, Suppliers, Sub-contractor and Service Partners and to provide support and cover to the Works Contract Commercial Manager. The role will ensure all commercial matters with regards to pricing, service delivery and contract requirements are co-ordinated and managed to the highest standards within MUJV, supply chain and client organisation. The Commercial Manager is responsible for maximising the return on change opportunities for MUJV.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Manage all commercial elements of the PAC contract, understanding responsibilities of the company and defending against claims
* Maximise change opportunities under the contract through the change management process
* Manage the recovery of insurance and other claims under the contract
* Monitor and provide support to ensure that all commercial activities are delivered to required standards and timeframes with appropriate change management and document control activities.
* Develop appropriate commercial models and provide regular reports to required standards and timeframes
* Monitor performance against commercial models, develop Key Performance Indicators and report on variance, as appropriate
* Manage commercial document control and commercial administration functions within MUJV
* Ensure through regular meetings and communications that all stakeholders, are fully informed of commercial activity, and ensure that all commercial material is up-to-date and communicated amongst the teams.
* Drive supply chain partners to support a unified approach to change management
* Mentor supply chain partners and admin support staff to provide a shared understanding of the contract requirements
* Act as Commercial representative in the development of any new systems such as finance, procurement, document management
* Understand the contractual approaches to PFI’s/Outsourcing agreements and new trends/innovations in services delivered within the Project Allenby Connaught contract.



NATURE AND SCOPE

This is a professional role which includes liaising throughout the business, with regular communication with client representatives, shareholder managers, senior management, engineers, designers and contractors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a professional attitude to work are required with all interfaces.

Demonstration of sound commercial judgement and advice is required at all times. It is anticipated that the jobholder will undertake this role with a high degree of autonomy, referring to their line manager for guidance or decisions as appropriate.

Whilst the role is based at Tidworth, to fully engage with business activities, the jobholder will be expected to attend meetings at other locations.
