To provide professional advice to the assigned contracts within the C&E Region on all health and safety matters. This post holder will offer expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. This represents a key role in supporting the C&E Region to identify and control, so far as is reasonable, health and safety risks.

Key responsibilities:

* Maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation, keeping up to date with UK and EU regulations and legislations and any developments that affect the electrical service industry
* Attend site wide surveys: collecting data to establish a baseline condition on health and safety issues for a site or area of consideration
* Implementing health and safety policies and procedures to continually improve the impact of the Company
* Advise/review on the production of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Construction Phase Plan's, and emergency response plans at each site/project
* Ensuring that the Project Managers within the business understand their responsibilities for managing the Health & Safety of their teams
* Responding to site teams in providing health and safety advice specific to their business needs for all stages of work
* Assist in developing toolbox talks and briefings on key issues
* Undertake regular site and depot health and safety inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented, identifying areas for improvement, resolving health and safety problems and ensuring necessary changes are instigated
* Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and support is provided to investigations in accordance with company policies and procedures
* Promoting and encouraging new Health & Safety Representatives and developing their skills and competencies
* Maintain compliance to the Lloyds NERS scheme
* Attending functional Health & Safety committee meetings
* Participate as a team member to achieve client, company and regional objectives


Qualifications / training:
* NEBOSH or equivalent Level 3/4 National Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
* Relevant CSCS card
* Computer literate and proficient IT skills

Knowledge / Skills:


* Demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of health and safety issues, relevant UK legislation
* Experience working in a Health and Safety Advisor's role
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively innovate and work well under pressure
* Proactive & motivated person who will identify and promote Health and Safety improvements
* Have confidence, initiative, commercial awareness and excellent IT, organisational, team working, project management and communication skills
* Establish effective networks within the Company and with external clients and organisations
* Experience with utilities and construction sites
* Ability to work as part of a team and to positively influence others


* Awareness of OSSAS 18001, USAG and Lloyds NERS Scheme
