The variety of projects the Vehicle Engineering team supports varies from passenger cars, commercial trucks and military vehicles, to novel low carbon concept projects. The analysis work undertaken within the team includes chassis K&C, vehicle ride and handling simulation, crash, NVH simulation, and strength & fatigue analysis. The engineer must have knowledge of ADAMS and be flexible in the type of work undertaken.

The Role:

* To be responsible for vehicle dynamic analysis supporting the design and development of chassis architecture for a wide range of vehicles
* The type of analysis undertaken is likely to include: the generation of chassis K&C data and hard point optimisation, vehicle ride & handling performance, loadcases to support FEA analysis, system modes & vibration, powertrain mount position and rate tuning
* Work with the team to define initial targets and design concepts using a CAE lead design optimisation process
* Fine tune system parameters and perform extensive virtual validation through the use of detailed full-vehicle models including measured data and co-simulation
* Present analysis findings and recommendations to customers and our chief engineers
* Prepare technical reports
* Support the business development team with input to proposals including technical content, defining suitable work scopes and timing plans
* Develop tools and processes within the department
* Knowledge of structural analysis would be an advantage (Nastran/Abaqus)



The ideal candidate will:



* Have significant experience of supporting vehicle design & development via ADAMS analysis, from concept level to fully advanced solutions
* Possess extensive knowledge of suspension concept design and chassis systems, including their associated effect on high-level vehicle attributes
* Have initiative and be flexible in supporting the wide range of projects the Vehicle Engineering team undertakes
* Have good interpersonal and communication skills that enable effective team working, with a strong motivation to deliver
