Penguin Recruitment are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a an award winning structural and civil engineering practice, that delivers enterprising and coherent design solutions on behalf of a spectrum of clients. They are experienced in handling large, complex and challenging projects as well as working on intricate and innovative structures in the new build and refurbishment market.

The companies clients range from corporate organisations, private developers and institutional investors to local authorities, influential architects, design & build contractors and housing associations.

The workload is varied, encompassing sensitive renovation and conversion of historical Grade 1 listed buildings through to highly architected multi-storey towers. It takes in all the challenges of providing high quality engineering solutions to the issues of construction on the confined sites of large metropolitan areas. This will offer the successful candidate the chance to broaden their experience working with some of the country’s top architectural practices and leading contractors.

The successful Senior Structural Engineer will need to be a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE), and have a minimum 5 years post chartered design experience in a UK based consultancy with experience working in the commercial, industrial, health, education, leisure, residential and retail sectors. They should have experience with both new build and refurbishment projects.

The successful Senior Structural Engineer will:

* Plan, undertake and manage designs from feasibility through to detailed stages;
* Represent the company at meetings for the projects on which the candidate works;
* Be expected to undertake surveys of buildings, both for refurbishment work and to assess their condition;
* Provide written reports to clients and senior management;
* Be motivated and enthusiastic showing a willingness to learn and grow within the company;
* Demonstrate good financial management ability, as the role will involve assessing potential projects and preparing fee quotes;
* Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to listen and respond to the needs of clients, and also maintain and develop those client relationships.
