Penguin Recruitment are currently looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join a successful multi-disciplinary consultancy in their Hemel Hempstead office. The company has 5 offices across the U.K, and have a collaborative and proactive approach to anticipate and solve complex problems with simple solutions. The main Duties and Responsibilities of the Principal Structural Engineer will be:

* Enhancing and growing the reputation of the business;
* Managing larger and more technically demanding projects;
* Assist with resource planning within their area of the business;
* Providing technical leadership within their area of the business;
* Lead multi‐disciplinary projects, co‐ordination with other sections of the business;
* Understanding and implementing business management systems;
* Preparation of fee bids;
* Financial management of projects;
* Assisting with the training and appraisal of technical staff;
* Assisting with management of staff.

The successful Principal Structural Engineer will have the following Competencies, Qualifications and Experience:

* Eligible to work in the UK;
* Ability to achieve goals, meet deadlines and manage others;
* Efficiency and effectiveness in management and execution of work;
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or alternative equivalent practical experience;
* Chartered Engineer, Member of IStructE, ICE or other relevant institution;
* Knowledge of relevant discipline and applicable standards;
* Understanding of other disciplines;
* Proven ability in engineering design & reporting;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills;
* Strong interpersonal skills;
* Able to represent the business at meetings and inspections, and provide advice on complex engineering matters;

* Able to negotiate commercial/financial matters with direction from others;
* Commercially aware.
