Due to an exciting new project the Automotive Engineering Group are looking for STA Engineer.

Role Purpose

The STA Engineer for Automotive Engineering is responsible for co-ordinating all technical queries with Suppliers, resolving open issues and faults and guaranteeing that the supply of Quality Assured parts are delivered from External Suppliers on time, to specification and to the required quantities.

Role Specific Accountabilities

• Work closely with Purchasing and Engineering to identify and select the most capable and efficient Suppliers to meet the requirements of automotive programmes.
• Provide effective Design for Manufacture capability and Cost Optimisation within Performance and Reliability targets.
• Support Engineering, Purchasing and Suppliers to resolve technical challenges and assure part conformance to drawings, specifications and requirements
• Determine Supplier Capability and Capacity, and provide technical support to achieve Supplier Readiness.
• Manage Faults Reporting including Containment and implementing Corrective action taken to prevent reoccurrence.
• Manage Non-Conformance, including the review of Concessions raised to ensure that issues are addressed and resolved
• Ensure alignment to programme deliverables to support on-time, parts-in-stores delivery dates
• Champion process improvements with Suppliers to optimise their technical capability to manufacture to requirements
• Provide an Executive Summary of the Supply Readiness and Supplied Part Quality to support programme metrics
• Creation and maintenance of documentation required for Automotive Engineering.
• Represent quality within the project team.

Knowledge, skills and experience required


• Practical experience in Automotive or Aerospace Production environment.
• Education and specialism in Precision Machining and/or Manufacturing of ICE/ERS components
• Effective ability to manage a Portfolio of Suppliers with confidence.
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Proven track record in New Product Introductions and Problem Solving
• Understanding of legislation and documentation required for production of Automotive Engineering Quality systems.
• Understanding and application of GD&T
• Literate in MS Office applications.


• Track record of working with and improving Suppliers
• Understanding of Project Management tools and techniques
• Experience with SAP Business System



• BEng/BSc qualified (2:1 minimum) in relevant subject


• Chartered Engineer Professional Registration

• Have previous experience in a “customer facing” technical environment
• Have previous experience working within automotive road car programmes
