A fantastic job opportunity in London has become available with a global building contractor for a Lead Planner to direct the project team in all planning matters. The company itself are involved in some of the highest profile construction projects in the UK including major hospitals, several school new builds and a number of commercial buildings.

In this instance, you will be exclusively involved with the construction of a high-profile mixed-use complex worth in excess of £100m currently being built in the city. Reporting to the Head of Planning, you will have sole responsibility for producing and maintaining the master project schedule for the entire construction works and will also hold line management responsibilities for another Planner.

The role would be suitable for Planners who have previously worked on education, commercial and/or residential projects and have an appreciation for the challenges and difficulties that are faced by the project teams throughout each stage of construction. Therefore candidates with existing Planning Management experience would be strongly considered, although, applications are more than welcome from Planners of a senior level looking to make a step up.

Requirements:
  • Degree education is preferred, although candidates with equivalent levels of experience will be considered
  • Expert user of Asta Powerproject
  • Main contractor experience is essential
  • Ability to communicate and advise project teams and stakeholders on project progress in relation to the project plan
  • Ability to manage a team and ensure efficient activity in a high pressured environment
  • Extensive knowledge of residential, retail and commercial building construction
  • Experience gained from projects of value in excess of £50million
  • Evidence of mentoring and leadership of project planners
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable but not a necessity eg. CIOB, APM, CMI
