The Water Industry is entering an exciting period of change with the onset of retail competition, and a transforming regulatory outlook. Wholesale Services and performance is fundamental to our business and its responsibility to continue delivering quality water from source to customer taps. Our client, is recognised throughout the UK’s water industry for delivering outstanding service and high quality standards to approximately 1.6 million household and business customers and from April 2017 the services will extend to Retailers.

To continue driving our high standards and business improvement ethos, it’s vital that our Network Development team is able to provide a comprehensive and cost effective service that delivers water supply solutions to housing and commercial developer customers alike, this is where you come in. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Network Development Technician to work with us in the Asset Management Team. Ideally you will have mainlaying and service laying experience gained from working in the utilities sector. You will be required to undertake site visits to audit the performance of in house contractors and self-lay organisations against agreed performance measures, carry out site visits to prepare estimates for new connections.

Key Job Requirements

You will need to;

* Provide job status, mains laid and service connection completed data for Management and Contractor reports.
* Ensure scheme costings for new housing and commercial development applications are prepared accurately and in accordance with legislation.
* Be able to confidently engage with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels, whilst overseeing contractors in order to report on contractor performance.
* Have working knowledge of AutoCAD in order to prepare mains layout designs, for both new, renewal and the upgrade of existing water services, although some training will be available.

Candidate’s Profile

Educated to GCSE level including English and Maths or with equivalent work experience you must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as being conversant with Microsoft Office. A good understanding of the current CDM regulations would be desirable and ideally you will hold a valid CSCS registration card.

A valid UK driving licence is essential as this role will require travel within our regions.
