* Overview of Job:

>?? Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for residential, commercial and other types of development sites.

>?? River/flood modelling.

>?? Expert Witness for planning enquiries and hearings.

>?? Understanding of current legislation/guidance and implications for Flood Risk and Drainage projects (F&WMA, CIRIA Guidance on SuDS, NPPF/NPPG, Code for Sustainable Homes).

>?? Project management for flood risk, hydrology and technical designs at pre-planning stage.

>?? Work involves significant use of specialist design software and CAD.

>?? Outputs include drawings, reports, calculations and correspondence.

>?? Role involves submissions of reports for third party approvals and requires pro-active communication with clients, authorities/agencies and other third parties to ensure projects are completed to deadlines and budgets.

Candidate Requirements:

>?? Educated to a minimum standard of BEng in Civil Engineering studies or other related degree.

>?? Proficient using Micro Drainage, Hec-Ras and ISIS software packages.

>?? Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.

>?? Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.

>?? Preferably will have or be working towards professional membership with ICE, CIWEM or similar.

>?? Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. This will also involve working with various other disciplines within my client and external companies.

>?? Self-motivated individual with desire to not only work within the team but also have ambition to help it grow and develop. Mentoring/supervision of trainee staff to develop their knowledge and skills.

>?? Working knowledge of health and safety standards and adhere to them at all times.

>?? Excellent time keeping and communication skills.

>?? Hold full clean driving licence and have own private car with insurance for business use.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

>?? Writing of Flood Risk Assessment reports for strategic development schemes on sites in Flood Zones 1, 2 & 3.

>?? Development of surface water drainage strategy designs for proposed development sites, incorporating sustainable drainage techniques either as part of a Flood Risk Assessment report or standalone assessment.

>?? River/flood modelling to define extent and depths of flooding and to determine mitigation/ improvement schemes.

>?? Preparation of reports for inquiries and presenting evidence as Expert Witness at hearings.

>?? Attending meetings with clients and approving bodies such as Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authority, Internal Drainage Board, Planning Authority, etc.

>?? Project management including client liaison, fee proposals, invoicing and managing team members.

>?? Business development with existing clients and creating new contacts. Contribute to growth and development of the flood risk/hydrology team.
