Critical Project Resourcing is currently looking for a Maintenance Manager to join a leading Train Operating Company who is working on a national contract to maintain a fleet of On Track Machines. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of Engineers and Mechanical Fitters, ensuring the timely repair and maintenance of the plant and machinery. 

Further responsibilities will include carrying out technical briefings, purchasing materials, and making sure that all resources and vehicles are available to meet contractual requirements. You will also be required to control budgets and maximise savings on the contract through effective management and monitoring of KPI performance.

This role would be suitable for candidate who have previous experience of leading teams of 10+ engineers/technicians within the rail industry on similar OTM vehicles or other rolling stock. You will have strong qualifications and/or British Rail apprenticeship and must have strong man-management skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Job requirements:
  • Engineering Qualification(s) or British Rail Apprenticeship required
  • Railway Industry background
  • Experience from leading teams of Engineers and Fitters
  • Ability to effectively manage and plan maintenance tasks
  • Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment requirements
  • Operational management experience
  • Budget forecasting experience
  • Materials purchasing and procurement experience
Location: UK Wide. You will be expected to travel for this role as far north as County Durham and as far south as Kent. You will be able to work out of a local site with further travel to national depots being expensed on a fuel card. However, you need to able to travel fairly openly throughout the working week for this particular role.
