Penguin Recruitment are currently looking for a Structural Engineer currently working towards their chartership, to join an established firm of Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers, offering a wide range of professional services in the construction industry, operating from their office in Luton.

The workforce is overseen by senior, professional civil and structural engineers. They have a wealth of specialist knowledge and technical expertise founded on extensive local and international experience in Civil and Structural Engineering. The services and people they use are tailored to suit specific project requirements. They are able to handle everything from simple one-off beam calculations and structural inspections to large projects up to the value of around £25 million.

The Structural Engineer will have the following responsibilities in this role:

* Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber;
* Preparing high quality technical reports, including dilapidation reports and due diligence structural surveys;
* Undertaking analysis and design using a range of software packages;
* Ensuring the quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained;
* Liaising with, and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.

The Structural Engineer will be required to have the following Qualifications/Experience:

* First degree in Structural Engineering is essential;
* Minimum of 4 years’ experience is essential;
* Varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types;
* Experience of assessing existing structures is crucial;
* Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required;
* Experience of structural analysis design and analysis software essential.
