Platform Engineer – Military Vehicles

This is an immediate requirement for a Platform Engineer or Systems Engineer with experience in the design of military land vehicles.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Platform to work for a leading engineering design company in the Newport area. This Engineer role will be working alongside the design team to ensure all on-going changes continue to meet customer requirements and don’t reduce the vehicles integrity.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of military land vehicles across Electronics or Mechanical Subsystems.

Responsibilities for this role

- Generate and manage the design baselines for Production platform configurations
- Manage and support Engineering Change and ensure the effective management of engineering design baselines
- Conduct compliance assessments and gap analyses
- Support the development of Uplift and Retrofit technical design activity
- Support the manufacturing teams providing engineering domain support
- Support trials team providing engineering domain support
- Liaise with external, specialist suppliers of military platform systems and sub-systems
- Prepare material and support for internal and external design reviews
- Support critical design appraisals throughout the design and development life-cycle
- Support to the preparation of cost, programme and risk estimates for engineering change
- Provide concise briefings to lead engineer

Requirements for this role

- Degree in Design Engineering or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline
- A proven track record in the design and development of vehicle systems
- Experience of engineering designs against performance and reliability targets
- Experience of defining and evaluating system requirements
- Ability to liaise with and present information to multidiscipline team members
- Ability to interpret design requirements and propose appropriate design solutions
- Willing to travel within the UK and overseas
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
- Pro-active, organized and able to plan and project manage time critical tasks
