Job role:-

1 Design and development of software for motor controllers and supporting peripheral devices for automotive and industrial electric vehicles
2 Working with sales, marketing, customers and engineering to define product specifications
3 Interpret product specifications to produce software functional specifications
4 Software system design and documentation.
5 Functional safety analysis, design and validation.
6 Coding, testing and debugging
7 Support of applications engineering for software design related issues
8 Work to company quality and national / international standards



Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below:-

1 Real time Embedded Software Engineering
2 Requirements analysis
3 UML or other structured design methodologies
4 Coding
5 Verification and validation
6 C / other real-time embedded programming languages



Desirable experience and skills:-

1 Software engineering for electric motor control applications or electric/hybrid vehicle systems
2 Functional safety experience to standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508, D0178B or similar.
3 AUTOSAR or OSEK
4 Automotive diagnostic protocols and corresponding tools for UDS (ISO14229) and J1939 diagnostics on CANbus.
5 Experience with CASE tools (Configuration management, Requirements management, unit test tools)
6 Experience with CAN network based control systems
7 Debugging (including emulators, On-Chip-Debug (OCD))
8 Experience with unit and integration testing of software.
9 Visual C# / C++ / other PC programming languages
10 Common microcontroller architectures, (Infineon Tricore, ARM Cortex, Texas C2000 DSP, etc).
11 Digital Control (digital signal processing).



Personal attributes

1 Interest in safety critical engineering and improving work practices to meet challenging new safety standards. Safety critical engineering experience is not mandatory but relevant experience or a desire to improve their skills in this area is preferred.
2 Excellent communication skills and able to deal with all levels of the organisation
3 Must able to work alone with minimum guidance, but also be able to operate effectively as part of a team.
4 Structured individual with good problem solving skills
5 Enthusiastic, flexible and keen approach to learning, etc.
6 Flexibility to travel in UK and overseas



Qualifications required :-

1 BSc (Hons) in Computer Science / Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent. 2.1 or higher grade
