An opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Kernel Software Engineer to work for a World Leading Electronics design company in the Cambridge area. This Kernel Software Engineer role will be working on a number of new operating systems being developed for their range of new products. This is a great opportunity as my client is starting to work on the next generation of mobile technology for use in the internet of things.

Responsibilities for this role
- Software design (leading discussion and architectural definition of key technologies of Linux kernel, experience with Android and Android wear is a bonus)
- Define new optimization solutions and new features about mobile product software system; provide guidance and work with software team to implement these features and optimizations.
- Develop and build embedded software which involve implementing key component code for embedded devices (Smartphone, Wear and IoT devices).
- Track and work with various mobile-related open source communities, participate in developer conferences and summits.

Requirements for this role
- Software development experience on embedded systems
- Experience defining architecture
- Expert knowledge and experience of developing kernel and user space device drivers for Linux
- Strong knowledge of the ARM architecture.
- Strong knowledge of memory management or CPU schedule
- Strong knowledge of embedded power management techniques or security technologies.
- Experience of software profiling, instrumentation and optimization.
- Familiarity with open-source project development cycles and contribution processes.
- Experience with C/C++, assembly programming.
