Tool Room Engineer Wolverhampton, West Midlands to c£31k neg dep exp

Our highly successful manufacturing client has been established for more than 20 years and specialise in utilising innovative manufacturing methods and state of the art technology to consistently deliver highest quality products and customer satisfaction in their niche high volume market sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Tool Room Engineer to complement their existing professional team.

Reporting to the Tool Room Lead, the successful candidate will be tasked with manufacturing consumable machine parts to ensure the smooth running of all the machinery in the factory to meet customer and company demands, with such parts including knife blades and cutting rings in batches to small tolerances and specified drawings. Success in the position will be measured by the achievement of maintenance downtime KPI’s. Working closely with the production and engineering departments to ensure consumables and other parts are produced on time whilst planning to ensure continuous production and increased efficiency, you will cut and shape parts using a combination of millers, lathes, grinders and cutting machines as well as creating drawings where required.

Essentially you will demonstrate experience in setting angles with a sine bar and will be confident in the use of DTI’s, building slip gauges and being skilled in conventional milling, turning, screw cutting and grinding with the ability to calculate hole positions both manually and on a turning table.

Other duties as Tool Room Engineer will include using a dial test indicator, micrometre and sine bar, assembling and testing new tooling, repairing, remaking and enhancing existing tooling and covering for the Tool Room Lead where required. Able to interpret and understand technical drawings, you will maintain a safe workshop environment in accordance with Health and Safety procedures and demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours as necessary in case of emergency repairs.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Toolmaking or equivalent and demonstrate previous experience gained on working with milling machines and lathes within a busy engineering and workshop manufacturing environment. With strong Hydraulic and Pneumatic technical knowledge and experience, you will be a strong believer in sustained continuous improvement with meticulous attention to detail, and comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a busy team within an often pressurised environment.
