The Role:
Lecturer in Control Engineering

Location: Workington

We are an Ofsted Grade 1 training provider based in West Cumbria. We provide a diverse range of employer-led training, including engineering apprenticeships, degree courses and postgraduate programmes. The company has established strong partnerships with academia including the Universities of Manchester, Central Lancashire and Cumbria.

Due to expanding training business, the company is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Control Engineering. The position would suit a highly-motivated individual with a keen interest in the development and delivery of innovative and effective training programmes with a strong vocational element.

Duties: The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, project supervision, and curriculum development in the fields of control engineering. Teaching duties will extend from Level 3 (BTEC National) to Level 6 (BEng Hons).

Qualifications: Essential: A minimum of BEng Hons at Class 2.1 in Control Engineering or a relevant engineering or science discipline. Desirable: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline; PgCert Ed or equivalent.

Experience: Desirable: Experience in the application of control engineering in an industrial, research or academic environment; knowledge of the civil nuclear industry. Particular interest will be for expertise in Modern Control Systems such as Digital & Discrete Control, Artificial Intelligence within Control Systems and Advanced Continuous Control Methods. Additional experience of programming Robotic Automation Systems & knowledge of the application of Forward and Inverse Kinematics

For less experienced candidates, we will consider appointment at the Junior Lecturer grade with the expectation that the individual will undertake appropriate training and professional development, including working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
