Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. From Crossrail – Europe’s largest civil engineering project – to investment in world-class stations and major programmes of electrification, we're involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures that this country has ever seen.

Infrastructure Projects (IP) is a regionally-based business delivery organisation for Network Rail, responsible for the management of renewals, enhancements and major projects with better coordination across the business to deliver capital projects efficiently and at the best value.

Great Western and Crossrail is building a team to deliver a new rail link connecting the West directly to Heathrow airport, without the need to go in to London. This will improve passenger journeys to the UK’s busiest airport and help to increase economic productivity across the Thames Valley and wider region.

The Western Rail Link to Heathrow (WRLtH) team will develop the project in the current control period ending in March 2019 and then onwards will deliver the construction in the next control period.

As mentioned above, Western Rail Link to Heathrow is a project initiated to provide direct access to Heathrow Terminals from the west of England without the need to go in to the London Paddington. The project is developing a twin bored tunnel solution approximately 5km long from Langley to Heathrow Terminal 5. This is an exciting engineering challenge and a unique opportunity for anyone who wishes to join a team responsible for delivering one of the most significant major infrastructure projects in the UK.

The team will be based in Reading for the development phase and will relocate to the Langley area during the construction phase.

The purpose of this role is to manage Telecom design and/or construction activities for Western Rail Link to Heathrow project. This will include assurance of appropriate engineering standards being used in relation to design and/or construction on WRLtH project with compliance to the requirements of the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), relevant legislation, Group and company standards, and Network Rail procedures.
