Home based – Braintree, Cambridge, Chelmsford and Bishops Stortford region with UK, Eire and European coverage

Our client has been established for more than a decade and are recognised as a market leading laser service and repair company supporting client needs throughout the UK and beyond, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly self-motivated Field Service Engineer - Lasers to complement their established and successful team. Based from home and reporting to the Director of Service, the successful Field Service Engineer will be tasked with performing a range of both planned preventative and reactive maintenance and repair activities for clients across the UK, Ireland and occasionally in Europe as required, working on an array of lamp, diode and Co2 pumped lasers in a range of industrial environments and applications.

In addition to providing a complete laser maintenance service, the company also offer support on a range of laser products and solutions from some of the leading names in laser technology including Alltec, Foba, Innolas, Univet, Bofa, Alpha Laser, Coherent Laser Machining and Swisstec Micromachining, so previous experience of working with such equipment will prove distinctly advantageous although full training will be provided in Germany as required. Ideally based in the Cambridge to Chelmsford region (although realistically anywhere above the London M1 corridor is viable) for contractual PPM works, the successful Field Service Engineer - Lasers candidate will not necessarily have worked previously in the laser / optical industry although this will prove distinctly advantageous, with experience in the Comms, automation and robotic skills proving additionally beneficial.

The role will ideally suit a time served individual with an HNC in Electronics or similar relevant engineering qualifications and with essential experience of working on 3 phase circuits, control electronics and water cooling circuits, with the ability to fault find and work from mechanical drawings and circuit diagrams as well as being comfortable in working in a very much customer facing and satisfaction focussed role. Considering the high level of communication skills required for the position, it would also be advantageous if the successful candidate had the ability to “up sell” on occasions and maximise repair or service contract arrangements as relationships evolve.

You will possess a high level of IT proficiency and mechanical dexterity and a full clean driving licence with a flexible approach to travel throughout the UK, Ireland and overseas as required. As work will inevitably go beyond the normal 8am to 5pm on occasions, you will be flexible in working early starts and late finishes as required.
