My client is a major multinational contract research organisation specialising pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products, and due to expansion they are seeking an experienced Shift Analytical Chemist to support their quality assurance team.

As Shift Analytical Chemist, the main purpose of your role is to support the QC shift operation of the GMP Manufacturing Plant by performing analysis as required, assisting in the efficient operation of the laboratory and ensuring that schedules are met and that the quality of work meets specified standards.

The hours for this position are 07:45 to 20:15 and 119:45 to 08:15, on a 4-days on/4-days off basis.

As Shift Analytical Chemist, your typical duties will include:

* Provide GMP analytical support to the GMP Manufacturing Plant facility, including testing of raw materials, analysis of in-process control samples, isolated intermediates, and final API samples, and analysis of cleaning samples.
* Typical techniques used are HPLC, GC, NMR, IR, Karl Fischer, classical techniques
* Prepare and review data and documents accurately and efficiently, in-line with the Quality Unit's culture of Right-First-Time.
* Ensure that unplanned deviations (UPDs) are kept to a minimum and that your line manager is notified as soon as UPDs are generated, and that any corrective or preventative action arising from UPDs are completed in full and within allocated timeframes.
* Ensure that laboratory equipment remains in calibration and functions as required. Where this is not the case refer to the appropriate persons for action.
* Ensure that lab and write-up areas are maintained in an audit-ready condition at all times.

The Ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

* BSc in Analytical Science or equivalent in related subject
* Hands-on direct experience of HPLC within a pharmaceutical laboratory
* Experience of GC, NMR, IR, Karl Fischer, classical techniques,
* Proficiency with Microsoft Packages
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven ability to apply a meticulous approach to tasks undertaken
* Proven ability to organise and plan work both independently and with team members
* Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
