Working as an Asset Engineer in the Integrated Design Team (IDT) within Asset Strategy this role will be responsible for consistent and timely initiation of network projects including Infrastructure Reinforcement, Mains Replacement, Trunk Main replacement, condition assessment and burst mitigation plus the Developer Services programs of work

Key Responsibilities:

* Identify and promote Mains Renewal, Trunk Main and Developer Services projects based on established criteria to maintain a standard level of service across the Company
* Contribute to the strategy of the new mains renewal targets and develop a process to identify and score MR schemes
* Promote the use of Scheme Builder tool available on Pioneer, using it to identify the total benefits of mains renewal schemes and produce a more accurate cost estimate of the works
* Support the Head of the IDT to ensure that sufficient projects are promoted so that the contractor’s work can remain on programme
* Understand the project deliverables and ensure that sufficient and suitable progress reports are produced in a timely manner
* Investigate potential work sites to identify the risks to the projects and mitigate them where possible
* Liaise with the Hydraulic Modelling Team to understand and challenge the hydraulic specifications of the project and the renewal requirements
* Meet with Community Operations to have a better understanding of the network and its specificity and agree the sizes of the pipes replacements. Discuss the potential improvements these mains renewal projects can bring to the network.
* Collaborate actively with the Designer and the Project Manager to identify the different options, to choose the optimised solution based on risk, cost and impact on third parties and to develop the project until it is ready to start on site
* Support and advise the Project Manager to ensure any issue is sorted efficiently with minimal impact to the customers
* Record, evaluate and process any variations to the scope of work of the project
* Promote “best practice” through process improvement and continuous development of processes, procedures and documented working practices
* Chair the DR0 and DR1 meeting and draft the minutes for each project

* Participate in the improvement and the standardisation of the DS Ad Hoc connections process across the Company
* Bring technical support to the Project Admin Team, the Project Manager and Community Operations
* Draft well defined needs reports to justify the need for TM projects and highlight the best options


* A degree level education in a relevant engineering subject
* Experience of the water industry
* Contract delivery experience
* Relevant construction experience
* A suitable CDM qualification
