Job Role:

Our Client is a $2 billion public (rxn), multi-industry manufacturer and marketer of highly engineered mechanical power transmission components and commercial water management products.

They are currently looking to recruit for a Manufacturing Program Manager to work based at their offices in Hemel Hempstead.

This position will combine the day to day management of technical and manufacturing problem resolution as well as new technical and commercial products, projects and contracts supporting the strategic growth of the business. The Manufacturing Program Manager will serve as the primary focal point between the Customer, Sales team and Company. The Manufacturing Program Manager will ensure adherence to master plans and schedules, develop solutions to program challenges/issues, and will guide a cross functional team to establish organisation continuity, follow through and monitoring of technical, schedule and cost performance for assigned programs.

Key Accountabilities

* Provide Customer focused technical support, including the understanding & clarification of customer specifications.
* To work with the estimating / planning team on existing and NPI to determine estimated costs and run times.
* Support work planning to identify/develop appropriate manufacturing techniques and sub contract capability.
* Assist where appropriate problem resolution arising during manufacturing of NPIs
* Lead technical problem solving activity as required liaising between Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Supply Chain as required
* Train and supervise staff on new development processes and technology.
* Maintain overall ownership with responsibility for integration of new product opportunity and development activities
* Understanding of customer specifications and internal capabilities to ensure smooth integration of new products
* Main conduit between plant and team on drawings and technical specifications
* Support in estimating all manufacturing costs and sub-contractors
* Business development Plan at Site level for MP growth initiatives including:
* Widen product scope and capabilities
* Share and recommend product alignment and rationalization at both sites
* New customer introduction and leveraging current customer
* Support Plants on Capex to enable product and business growth
* Simultaneously lead several programs from inception through transition to production.
* Collaborate with the Marketing Team, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing and Operations to ensure we deliver a successful product, on time, at acceptable revenues, with zero quality defects.
* Manage the customer and plants tightly to detailed master program schedules and milestones. Coordinate schedule compliance for all deliverables. Manage impact of material and delivery schedules to the operational aspects of the business.
* Scrutinize new product development to assure all milestones are met, all deliverables are delivered on time, and out of scope requests are properly challenged and accounted for on both the technical and commercial fronts.
* Maintain strong and accurate contact with Sales and customer’s purchasing, contractual and engineering groups. Available to customer on an as required basis. Communicate customer’s requests/requirements to responsible functional departments and coordinate all company actions to satisfy contractual obligations and program schedules.
* Provide weekly updates on all new programs from receipt of PO through Manufacturing Readiness and shipment of first deliveries. Report monthly to upper management on customer satisfaction and qualification test results on all new programs.
* Interfaces with Operational Management, Functional Department Leaders, Marketing, Engineering, and Sales.
* Some degree of travel is required for negotiation and customer interface.

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
* MBA and Program Management certification a plus
* Proven superior customer service and people/vendor relationship skills
* Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
* Team player who enjoys a fast-paced work environment
* Must have excellent Microsoft office skills
* Aerospace experience a plus
* Excellent communicator with ability to successfully lead programs/projects cross functionally
* Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
