Head of Contracts, Xylem Water Solutions

Location: Farnborough, Hampshire

Salary: c£70,000 plus package

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join this highly respected business. Based in Farnborough and reporting through to the Managing Director, this hand’s on senior managerial role will lead the Xylem contract, estimating and CAD teams.  You will be responsible for upskilling the existing group as well as bringing a strong and proven managerial track record. Implementing and evolving mature business processes will also be a key component of this role.  

The Role:

  • Drive performance of the estimating & engineering teams to hit orders and revenue targets whilst ensuring the highest possible levels of customer service are established and maintained across the business.
  • Undertake project reviews and take actions to generate the targeted margin.
  • Set and manage the delivery of SLA’s and KPI’s.
  • Interfacing with external and internal sales teams.
  • Ensure project prioritization and completion to timescales, within budget, maximising profit.
  • Be a change agent and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage annual budget size of circa £8m - £10m
  • Day to day management of the department and teams: - Ensure effective performance management and succession planning is undertaken. Coaching and mentoring of employees.
  • Drive the volume of quotes in Estimating, ensuring timescales are met.

The Person:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent preferable.
  • Proven commercial and financial understanding.
  • Preferably experience/background in water industry.
  • Proven project management experience and understanding of project methodology, ideally, holding a formal project management qualification.
  • To have the relevant knowledge and experience for success in this role, it is likely a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience would be required.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate experience in managing budgets.
  • Ideally, experience of working with principle/medium sized contracting companies and a knowledge of NEC 3 or similar contract forms.
  • Preferably, knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
