This role will require a SuDs specialist to work within the Drainage and Flood Risk Management team involved in consultation and advice on major planning applications.

Statement of General Requirements:

* Commenting on surface water element of planning applications and applying conditions
* Commenting on and approving discharge of condition applications in relation to surface water
* Providing advice and attending meetings with developers/planners
* Engaging in pre-app discussions
* Undertaking pre-app assessments and providing advice to developers
* Updating sustainable drainage guidance as required
* Providing assistance in establishing adoption procedures

Person Spec:

* A thorough understanding of the theory and practice of Sustainable Drainage
* A thorough understanding of the planning application process and the role of Lead Local Flood Authority as statutory consultee
* Able to assess submissions including drainage calculations (generally in MicroDrainage)
* Able to develop and maintain programs and databases in Excel and Access.
* Substantial experience in assessing planning applications
* Experience in working with partners to establish adoption procedures
* Act on own initiative with the ability to lead on setting out the Lead Local Flood Authority’s position
* Experience of writing and developing strategies/guidance
* Experience of identifying, commenting on or conditioning potential impacts on receiving waters, sewers etc.
