The Role

An opportunity exists for a Systems Engineer to lead the System Engineering activities to deliver on-going customer projects working on a large variety of vehicle based projects ranging from one off concept vehicle through to complete multi-platform and multi-application production programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide technical guidance and leadership for teams of engineers to deliver client projects in the following ways:

1 Capture system level requirements from the customer needs
2 Partition and decompose system level requirements to sub-system and component levels ensuring full traceability
3 Undertake design, analysis and verification using SysML
4 Develop both logical and physical architectures
5 Develop suite of Systems Engineering documentation, including but not limited to, SRD (System Requirements Document), System Design Description (SDD), SSDD (Sub-System Design Description) and ICD (Interface Control Document)
6 Liaison with Programme Management Office (PMO), purchasing and finance to meet project requirements
7 Customer interfacing for technical aspects of a project

In addition to the specific technical duties outlined above, the Systems Engineer will be involved in:

1 Driving the company-wide adoption of Systems Engineering good practice and development of quality procedures
2 Providing technical input to Systems Engineering and Integration business development across the product groups and market sectors
3 Promotion of capability throughout the company’s global customer base

Required Qualifications and Experience:

The successful applicant will have a sound Engineering background with a number of years of experience of successfully delivering Systems Engineering and Integration projects.

Essential

1 Minimum of 2:1 degree in an Engineering or relevant Science-based discipline with technical background in vehicle systems design and development
2 Significant experience in a Systems Engineering role developing complex vehicle systems across the product lifecycle
3 Extensive knowledge of requirements management and analysis tools
4 Knowledge of Systems Modelling Language (SysML)
5 Excellent knowledge of vehicle system architecture design considerations
6 Good knowledge of vehicle based networking and communications protocols (including CANbus and flexray)
7 Experience in managing project budgets, resource and delivery
8 Understanding of commercial business factors
9 Literate in IT systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Desirable

1 Good knowledge of vehicle based control and electrical systems
2 Knowledge of system level safety concepts and requirements, related standards (including ISO 26262) beneficial and industry tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis
