Our client are looking for a Project Engineer (Aerospace Fluid & Mechanical Equipment) to lead the development of new military aircraft equipment, from conceptual design through to certification and release to service. This role is based in Wimborne, Dorset.



As a Project Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

* Engineering Degree, or HNC/HND with demonstrated experience

* Experience of leading equipment development projects, using a diverse range of technical specialists

* Experience of working within a structured Life-Cycle Management framework

* Experience of concurrent engineering

* Experience of customer and supplier liaison







Core Competencies for Success:

* A strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering in the context of aerospace equipment
* An understanding of the operation and maintenance of military or civil aircraft
* A clear understanding of military or civil aircraft airworthiness and certification
* Extensive experience of liaison with customers and aircraft operators
* Good written and oral communications skills
* Experience of the management of product development from concept to series production
* An understanding of the financial management of development projects
* A strong understanding of the efficient & robust application of systems engineering methods
* Experience of building & managing teams
* A structured approach to problem solving
* Confidence in making balanced, timely decisions



As a Project Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

* Ensure the establishment of clear requirements baselines prior to commencement of design
* Prepare Engineering Management Plans, including estimates for schedule & resource requirements
* Provide technical leadership to ensure creativity, objective concept generation, technical excellence and structured problem solving
* Ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with Life-Cycle Management, Engineering and other internal processes
* Work with the Project Manager to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with technical, cost and schedule requirements
* Lead the active management of technical risks
* Ensure that equipment designs are optimised for manufacturability
* Provide technical progress reports in accordance with the business reporting structure
* Support Engineering Management in the improvement of efficiency and the development of capability through the use of staff development, new tools and processes
* Manage team performance
