The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Business, the Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction and development of the Company and is responsible for identifying new customer opportunities and driving growth across the Company's business activities.

Through a strategic approach to market and business development, the Technical Sales Director will significantly shape the development of the Company's strategy by analysing the market and advising of development opportunities. A strong commitment to customer service excellence and take a lead role in developing partnerships and business relationships with aerospace customers and other organisations to further deliver and shape the Company's strategic aims.

Key Responsibilities:
1 Business Development:
1a To develop and implement Corporate and Directorate business development strategies and plans. This will involve working closely with colleagues to ensure strategies meet and exceed the demands of Customers and that robust business development strategies are in place.
1b To create and develop sales opportunities to increase our income for aerospace products and services. This is with new clients with whom you will target, initiate and develop business relationships and manage the sales process from enquiry to order.
1c Identify new market opportunities, taking the lead on constructing robust and successful business proposals that secure new contracts and long term client relationships for the Company.
1d Ensure the Board of Directors and Management Team are systematically appraised of market opportunities, conditions and associated business developments.
1f Liaison with internal stakeholders (projects, engineering and purchasing) to ensure bids are competitive and robust.
1g Create and execute a clear business strategy for the accounts.
1h Responsible for preparing and delivering against monthly and annual sales forecasts and be accountable for the results.
2 Leadership of The Company:
2a Promote a common vision and ownership of the Company's values and strategic objectives with all external partners.
2b Implement the marketing strategy that incorporates national direction, local and strategically important priorities, enabling the Company to maintain and grow its income base.
2c Develop strong working relationships and understanding of the aerospace sector, to facilitate highly effective team working through the business development cycles contract negotiation cycles.
2d The Head of Business will agree personal objectives with the Technical Sales Manager. This will form part of the annual review of his/her performance in the role.
3 Corporate Responsibility:
3a Contribute to the development, communication and promotion of corporate core purpose, vision, mission and values.
3b Active input to driving the development of corporate strategy.
3c Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the Company in order to meet stretching financial and performance targets, including the implementation of lean methodology.
3d Ensure that all statutory obligations are met.
3e Champion the Company, the services and products that it provides and its support for disabled people.
3f To undertake specific tasks as asked from time to time by the Head of Business.
4 Financial Responsibilities:
4a To manage the directorate budget to meet the Company's strategic and operational business plans.
4b To ensure areas of responsibility are delivered in a way that are consistent with the Company's financial plans and cost improvement plans
4c Assist in embedding a commercial, client service focused approach to all business processes and activities.
5 Health & Safety
Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, as an employee, you must take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and for other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. The Act also states that you must not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare. You are also required to make yourself aware of the Company's health and safety policies and to report any accidents/incidents.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1 Experience of building a business and of achieving and working to targets
2 Experience of the Aerospace, manufacturing and Service Sector
3 Knowledge of key contacts and players in the Aerospace industry
4 Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques
5 Knowledge of profit and loss and how to grow and monitor business sales and profit
6 Strong presentation and communication skills - verbal and written
7 Strong selling, negotiation and influencing skills Strong relationship building, networking and account management skills.
8 Strong skills in business growth.
9 Commercially and financially aware.
10 An understanding of marketing, Creative problem solving.
11 Good numerical and costing skills.
12 Good computer skills.
