The opportunity is for a Hardware Design Engineer with Analogue and Digital Electronics Design Engineering experience, exposure to FPGA Design or PCB Design is desirable but not essential.

The products are designed using innovative ‘fault-tolerant’ and ‘failsafe’ architectures and must conform to exacting safety standards for Functional Safety (IEC 61508), Hazardous Areas (ATEX/IECEx) and other statutory and regulatory requirements as needed.

The main responsibilities for the role include:
• Taking supplied Hardware requirements and working to complete detailed design for Analogue and Digital applications from conception to inception.
• Schematics capture and Component selection.
• Supporting Design Reviews/FMEA as appropriate
• Supporting and coordinating outsourced elements, such as PCB layout
• Supporting V&V and product testing activities including functional, environmental and EMC tests.

The ideal candidate has experience of some of the following:
• Strong Hardware Design experience within industry. Proven experience in Hardware Design for safety related equipment is desirable
• Experience in the use of Mentor DxDesigner and Orcad schematic capture software.
• Knowledge of Mentor PADS and Expedition PCB layout tools is desirable.
• Knowledge of IEC61508:2010 is highly desirable
• Design for manufacturing experience advantageous
• A good team worker capable of contributing positively to multidisciplinary design teams, but also capable of operating proactively individually if required.
• Experience with DOORs or other requirements traceability tools is desirable
