The post holder will deal with technical construction design solutions and problems with existing buildings and structures and site issues on construction sites. Decisions will normally be taken without line management consultation unless an issue cannot be resolved within a reasonable time or is beyond the remit of the post holder

Impacts on the achievement of key performance indicators for construction projects, i.e. time, cost and quality. Ultimately, this role will impact on the success and profitability of the Architectural and Civil Engineering Consultancy.

Key Responsibilities to include: -

* Contribute to the successful management of the Architectural and Civil Engineering Consultancy and its role within the organisation.
* Lead, develop and monitor operational plans and working practices to establish capacity and capability of the section to deliver agreed outcomes in accordance with the section’s operational plan, delivering continuous improvement.
* Develop and lead a small structural engineering team and provide structural design services to clients
* Act as Project Lead to deliver structural engineering services in relation to new build and refurbishment projects from inception to completion, managing and co-ordinating workload to achieve the project deliverables within the agreed time, quality and financial objectives
* Liaise with clients evaluating the requirements of commissions and assist in developing a clear brief with particular regard to structural requirements
* Prepare project agreements, monitor and report on deliverables, programmes and manage change control.
* Prepare project plans, programme information, information to support Building Regulation applications, and pre construction phase health and safety plans for tender packages
* Undertake feasibility studies, develop design briefs, and prepare designs, specifications, contract documents and reports. Undertake design work with an innovative approach considering conservation, sustainability and budget
* Lead and contribute to design reviews ensuring design quality, monitor emerging legislation and engineering standards.

Establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders. Communicate clearly and provide regular progress reports, attend site and project board meetings and consultation events.

Key Experience knowledge & skills for the role: -

* Significant experience of leading construction projects through all work stages (RIBA stages 0 to 7) in the public and private sectors.
* Working experience of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and understanding of legislative aspects of project delivery including Building Regulations etc
* Structural and Civil Engineering degree
* Chartered Engineer status
* Design ability with detail knowledge of technical aspects of structural engineering
* Competent in AutoCAD with knowledge of Revit and MS applications e.g. Word, Excel, Project and conversant with NBS
* Commercial awareness and experience of working within a multi-disciplinary design environment
